Drew Macias made his major league debut with the San Diego Padres on September 29, 2007 when he entered the game as a pinch-runner in the seventh inning and subsequently scored a run.
Macias' first major league at-bat came on September 6, 2008 and his first hit came on September 11, a solo homer in the third inning off San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain. He went 4-for-20 with two homers and five RBIs across 17 games with San Diego.
Macias spent the majority of 2008 with Double-A San Antonio of the Texas League, placing second in the circuit in runs scored. He also drew 83 walks - good for 13th overall in the entire minors.
Known for his stellar defensive play, Macias makes the difficult play look routine and sports a tremendous arm - among the league leaders in assists on a yearly basis. A savvy hitter that waits for his pitch to hit, Macias' average and homer totals have risen each of the last three years.
